Point cloud processing and BIM model creation is handled by Klose's dedicated 3D engineering team based in Malaysia. The team works to client-specified LOD levels — LOD 200, 300, or 400 — and attaches the full metadata required for downstream engineering workflows, including equipment tags, material specifications, line numbers, and piping classes. Deliverables are reviewed against the point cloud before handover to ensure the model accurately reflects the as-built state.

How long does a 3D laser scan of an industrial plant take?
Scan duration depends on plant size and complexity. A single process train or production bay typically requires one to two days of field scanning. Large multi-train facilities or complete plants are scoped case by case. Point cloud processing and BIM modelling are carried out afterwards by our Malaysia 3D engineering team, with delivery timelines agreed at project kickoff.
Do we need to shut down production for the scan?
Not necessarily. Handheld scanners can operate in live production environments without halting operations. Terrestrial scanners are set up at each station position and do not require a production stop, though access windows may be coordinated to minimise disruption. We work around your production schedule.
What accuracy can we expect from the point cloud and BIM model?
Depending on the scanner and site conditions, registered point clouds achieve ±2–5 mm dimensional accuracy across typical industrial spans. BIM models are created from this data and checked against the point cloud to confirm that the model reflects the as-built state within the agreed LOD tolerances before handover.
