5-Axis Machining Centre Relocation and Re-Levelling
Project Overview
KLOSE relocated multiple large 5-axis CNC machining centre for an aerospace components manufacturer, handling disconnection, heavy lifting, transport, reinstallation and precision re-levelling and alignment. The machines' mass and sensitivity required careful rigging and exact final positioning. Among the items relocated where also bending machines and stamping presses.
The project returned the machines to full manufacturing tolerance at its new location, ready to resume precision production in record time, exceeding the customers expectations.
Our KLOSE online platform and AssetTag PRO application (www.assettagpro.com) made documentation a breeze and ensured strict compliance with the stringent requirements of the customer and his end-customers audit requirements.
Project Challenges
- Heavy machining centres are both massive and sensitive: lifting and transporting them safely, then restoring exact level and geometric alignment, is essential for them to hold tight machining tolerances.
- Documentation was a key requirement for the client as any work on the machines needed to be fully traceable down to the specific workers involved, timestamps and even torque and further information was required to be captured.
The Klose Advantage
- KLOSE's heavy-lift rigging equipment and precision re-levelling expertise let the team move the machine safely and restore its accuracy, so the customer resumed high-tolerance production without costly recalibration delays.
Outcome
Large machining centre relocated, re-levelled and aligned back to manufacturing tolerance with zero damage
